The City of Columbus approved funding on Sept. 8, for the redevelopment of the two historic buildings in the Westgate neighborhood of the Hilltop area (2365 West Broad Street with the Westgate mural)

The approved investment amounts to $1.2 million, which will be allocated to Hilltop RISE, a nonprofit economic development organization. This funding aims to enhance approximately 6,000 square feet of retail space and support the creation of nine affordable housing units on the upper floors of the buildings.

Recent infrastructure improvements including a proposed for a COTA Rapid Transit line on West Broad are expected to increase business activity in the area. Hilltop RISE aims to leverage these developments by attracting new businesses and preserving affordable housing options for residents earning around $58,000 annually or less.
