Prairie Township residents will have a chance to explore a new path to wellness later this month. On October 28, the Prairie Township Community Center will host an EFT Tapping Workshop led by accredited practitioner Rashmi. The session, themed “Grateful for My Body,” introduces Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping—a gentle mindfulness practice that blends acupressure and reflection to support emotional well-being and reduce stress.

The idea for the workshop grew out of a local connection. Rashmi first became involved with Prairie Township as a vendor at the Farmers Market and later proposed offering a class tailored to older adults. According to Brody Seiler, Recreation Supervisor for Prairie Township, the program fits perfectly with their mission. “We’re always looking for fresh, accessible ways to support wellness in our community, especially programs that focus on both physical and emotional well-being,” Seiler said.

EFT tapping is particularly well suited to seniors because it’s gentle, requires no special equipment, and can be practiced while seated. Participants tap lightly on specific points on the face and upper body while focusing on calming thoughts or affirmations, helping to lower stress and promote balance. Seiler explained, “Many of our senior participants are looking for ways to stay active and reduce stress without high physical demands. EFT Tapping is ideal because it’s calming, gentle, and doesn’t require mobility or prior experience.”

Rashmi’s approachable teaching style makes the technique especially welcoming for beginners. The hour-long workshop will include a short introduction to EFT, guided tapping practice, and reflection on the gratitude theme. Township leaders say this program fits into their broader focus on whole-person wellness, offering seniors a simple tool to manage stress, foster self-compassion, and stay socially engaged.

The EFT Tapping Workshop: “Grateful for My Body” will take place at the Prairie Township Community Center on October 28, 2025. It is open to seniors 55 and the cost is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. For more information or to register, residents can contact the community center at (614) 907-7990.
